Aug 30 - Time to play a bit of catch up after coming back from vacation, so...the September issue of Mirabella reports that Claire's next film is to be Flora Plum, directed by fellow Yalie, Jodie Foster. "Flora Plum takes place in a circus in the 1930s, thrown into upheaval by the arrival of a young woman from the Midwest (Claire Danes is Flora Plum, characterized by the director as "an Eve Harrington type") who seems innocent enough at first but may have something to do with a series of mysterious accidents that suddenly begin plaguing the show." (as reported by Harold Wexler). The LA Times has a few mentions of My So-Called Life in an interview with the heads of network television. Further to a previous mention about My So-Called Life being release on video, apparently it will be issued as two epsiodes per tape, with the pilot episode being a single tape and has a tentative release of late October 1998. Aug 19 - Alert! Access Hollywood is having a "First Look" at The Mod Squad tonight at 7:30PM. Aug 17 - Added a brief Mod Squad blurb and photo from Time magazine, courtesy of Nora. Aug 13 - The lastest issue of Movieline reports that Claire is on the short list to star in a Charlie's Angels remake and Claire gets a few Mod Squad photos in the latest issues of Newsweek and Time magazines. Aug 11 - Miramax's North American video release for I Love You, I Love You Not is today! And courtesy of Jessica, Entertainment Weekly's (less than glowing) review: I Love You, I Love You Not Jeanne Moreau, Claire Danes, Jude Law: Seems in the wake of Good Will Hunting, like the calculated attempt to keep the coming of age set coming back, this Miramax flick stars a heartthrob from TV's cult hit, My So-Called Life, and features a young literary protagonist who experiences public fainting spells. In I Love You, I Love You Not, Danes is Daisy, bookish Jewish girl struggling against her overbearing parents, the stares of parochial-school classmates, and a crush on a WASPy BMOC (Law) while reliving concentration camp horrors courtesy of her best friend and grandma (Moreau). Marred by dialogue that makes Daisy seem more precious than deep, I Love You suffers. C Aug 8 - Elizabeth reports that Claire gets a few mentions & photos in the September issue of Teen People... first with Claire and Ben at a childrens AIDS fundraiser -- says Claire: "There's a nice energy in the air, the music, the kids are really fun.", and again in an article on James Van Der Beek & his role in I Love You, I Love You Not -- says James: "She'd just come off My So-Called Life. I watched her walk from her trailer to the set (in New York City), and thirty 13-year-old girls would come out of the woodwork and not say a word. They just walked next to her." Claire also gets another photo in the September issue of Marie Claire and I've added a few new photos from US and InStyle to the library as well as a few new autographs, courtesy of Elvina. Aug 5 - Elvina reports that the September issue of US magazine has an article on "Star Pupils" which includes a small photo an mention of our Yalie, Claire. And this time some actual Brokedown Palace rumours (courtesy of a spy involved in post production) from Corona: "You get the gist of the story: Two girls in Thailand set up for drug smuggling. The inside scoop is that Claire Danes is trying to drop her 'good-girl' My-So-Called-Life image and plays a pot-smoking, rebelious teen. It's a little hard to bite, but you have to give her credit for trying to break from type casting. Bill Pullman does the same by portraying the sleazing in-it-for-the-money lawyer. You have previously stated Lou Phillips as a DEA agent, in fact he plays a cabinet member of some kind.
